12.0 ADSL2+ Bonded and CPE installation instructions
12.1 ADSL2+ Bonded Technology
Bonded ADSL2+, defined through the International Telecommunication Union’s ITU-T G.998.1 standard,
combines two or more copper pairs as a single connection.
The technology allows the delivery of up to 48 Mbps of downstream throughput speed over a bonded
ADSL2+ connection. Bonding functionality is delivered via a software based solution rather than a
physical bonding of the DSL pairs. The DSLAM and the modem/gateway create the virtual bond allowing
for to DSL lines to work as one. The ADSL2+ bonded pair is sent through a Category 5 home run to a
data jack near the gateway.

12.3 Equipment
The Cisco DDR2200 Residential Gateway supports Triple Play architectures and doubles the bandwidth
performance of traditional ADSL2+ modems owing to its support of DSL bonding. The device has four
10/100 Ethernet ports, 802.11g wireless LAN, dual ADSL line ports and USB interfaces including host
function for peripheral devices.
As a fully functional residential gateway, the Cisco DDR2200 has full routing capabilities including traffic
management and TR-069 capability
