Catalyst 1900 and 2820 Series
Cisco Catalyst
®
1900 and 2820 series Ethernet switches are
ideal desktop complements to the complete line of
high-performance switching and routing products from
Cisco Systems, the leader in networking. Using the same,
familiar interface as other Cisco routers and switches, they
deliver superior performance, configuration flexibility, and
manageability at exceptionally affordable prices.
All Catalyst 1900 and 2820 series switches offer
unrivaledeaseofusethroughanintuitiveandcomprehensive
Web-based management interface. Both are available in
Standard and Enterprise editions. Standard Edition switches
are exceptionally easy to deploy. Designed to work directly
out of the box, they immediately connect desktops to
high-speed servers and a network backbone. Enterprise
Edition software—available preconfigured in Enterprise
Edition switches or as an upgrade to Standard Edition
switches—adds unmatched scalability and flexibility.
Enterprise Edition switches provide virtual LAN (VLAN)
support, bandwidth optimization, enhanced security, and
comprehensivemanagementcapabilities.BothCatalyst1900
and 2820 series switches are upgradable via software, so
your investment is protected if your network grows or
changes.
The Catalyst 1900 and 2820 Series
Model Configurations
Catalyst 1900 Series
Catalyst 1900 series switches deliverthe industry’s bestvalue
for today’s Ethernet networks. For an extremely low price
per port, these switches provide dedicated 10-Mbps
bandwidth to the desktop and high-performance 100-Mbps
connectivity between workgroups. TheCatalyst 1900 switch
supports high-speed server and backbone connections using
unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) wire or fiber-optic cable.
A special version of the 1900 switch, the Catalyst 1900
DCforcentralofficenetworks,isdesigned especially for telcos
and other service providers that require 48-volt DC power.
Catalyst 2820 Series
Modular Catalyst 2820 series switches are the ideal solution
for Ethernet workgroups and individual users who need
increased flexibility and performance at an affordable price.
Designed to meet diverse media requirements, the versatile
Catalyst 2820 series switch has two expansion slots for
high-speed interconnect modules—switched and shared
100BaseTX and 100BaseFX, ATM, and FDDI modules.
Standard Edition Software
Cisco Catalyst 1900 and 2820 Standard Edition Ethernet
switches are the best investment for increasing network
bandwidth between users and servers, and cost about the
same as a managed hub. A Web-browser interface makes
them exceptionally easy to use, as does built-in support for
Domain Name Service (DNS) and Dynamic Host Control
Protocol (DHCP). Standard Edition switches can be
upgradedwith thepurchaseofanoptional EnterpriseEdition
Software Upgrade Kit.
